Dumbbell Twist Exercise

The dumbbell twist exercise works out the oblique muscles of your abdominals. It's an exercise that works great for your abdominal muscles. This is definetley an exercise that can and will tighten up those oblique ab muscles.

This exercise will develop the entire core oblique muscles of your abdominals if done correctly and properly.




Here are some tips to understand and implement as well as a description of how to do the exercise:

Tips:
  • Be sure to only twist the hips when doing this exercise.
  • Do not over twist to roughly or you may cause injury.
  • Make sure to keep your back straight and do not bend your back even if you want.
  • Do not let the dumbbell extend beyond the abdominal region.
  • Keep the weight close to your body all the time.
  • Do not move the head.
  • The focus movement is minimal, so focus on squeezing the abs at all times.

Twist Exercise

  • Begin by standing with your feet shoulder width apart and grab onto a pair of dumbbells with each hand.
  • With your elbows tucked in firmly, position the dumbbells close to your chest nice and tight.
  • While firmly squeezing your abdominal muscles, twist the weights from left to right only using your hips and abdominals as movement.
  • Repeat the process as needed.
