Basketball training is the best way to keep the athletes in great shape with agility training programs, workouts, and more.....

Basketball is a game of having skills and talent.  Its having very good athletic abilities and movement. 

Basketball agility drills, basketball exercises, basketball workouts, and basketball conditioning are primarly important for all basketball athletes if they want to be an all-star athlete. 

We will be discussing how to do drills effectively and give you a step by step guide on the procedures.





Improve Your Level of Play


No matter how good of a player that you assume you are, you can always improve your performance by being more agile, quicker, and faster when running up and down the court .  This game consists of lots movements, stopping, and starting, footwork, and mobility.  That is what makes a good basketball training session.

Think about a typical game and how you are sprinting up and down the court, and you have to make quick movements by cutting off a player to make a basket in score 2 points.  Therefore, it is up to you to have the ability to want to control this part of your game.

However, if your are motivated and dedicated to improving your basketball training game, right below are several basketball exercises.





 Agility Cone Drills


Super Shuttle
  1. Begin with your back towards the court and underneath the basket.
  2. Place about 4 cones in a square and name it cone A,B,C, and D.
  3. In a ready defensive position, shuffle backwards to point A.
  4. Then from point A to point B, sprint backwards.
  5. Facing the court, side step from point B to starting position.
  6. When back to starting point, jump up and touch the net.
  7. Then back shuffle from the starting position to point C.
  8. Sprint from point C to point D (in a forward position).
  9. With back towards the court, side step to starting position.
  10. Then Jump up and touch the net again.
  11. Repeat the process.

Weave In/Weave Out
  1. You will need 4 markers or cones in hand, place the markers in a straight line about 3 yards apart.
  2. Between every 2 markers place another marker approximately 3 yards to the left.
  3. Start from the starting line and sprint to the first marker.
  4. Then shuffle to the second marker on the on the left.
  5. Shuffle back towards the right to the third marker.
  6. Repeat the process to the finish line.
  7. Walk back to the starting line and repeat the process.

Shuttle With Passes
  1. Start at the baseline of the court.
  2. Face towards the court.
  3. Stand on the left side of the basket.
  4. Sprint quickly towards point A and receive a pass from another team mate or coach.
  5. Then pass the ball back to the coach or team mate, then immediately turn around and sprint towards point B.
  6. When you get to point B, jump up and touch the net.
  7. Immediately turn around and sprint to point C and receive another pass.
  8. Pass the ball back, sprint to point D and jump up and touch the net.
  9. Again, sprint to point E and receive another pass.
  10. Keep the ball and dribble the ball back towards the finish line.
  11. Repeat the process.

Box Drill Exercise
  1. Have 5 cones in hand, mark out a 6 by 6 square yard box.
  2. In the center of that box, place a cone.  That will be the starting point.
  3. For every cone, give it a number or a letter.
  4. The coach or team mate will call out the number or letters randomly.
  5. When to coach calls out number or letter at random.  The player must sprint to the cone and shuffle back to the center.
  6. As soon as you arrive back to the center, the coach will call out another number.
  7. Repeat the process.



Agility Ladder Drills


Ladder Drills are often associated with sports like football and soccer, but not to much for basketball training.  However, all basketball players should have the ability to improve their footwork and speed in basketball training.

These are several simple various ladder drills to help you get started:


One Foot Hop
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. With one foot, hop through every boxes until the end.
  3. Repeat the process several times.

Two Foot Hop
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. With both feet, hope through every box until the end.
  3. Repeat the process several times.

High Knees
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. Run through every box with your knees up high.
  3. Repeat the process.

Two Feet In Each Box
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. Run through every box.
  3. Be sure to step into every box with your right foot first, then your left foot next.
  4. Continue this same pattern in every box you step into.
  5. Repeat the proces.

Sideways One Foot
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. Sliding from your side, step into each box with one foot.
  3. Repeat the process.

Sideways Two Feet
  1. Start from the beginning of the ladder.
  2. Sliding from your side, step into each box with both of your feet.
  3. Repeat the process several times.


Jump Rope Drills


Jumping rope might be dated to be pretty old, but it is still a very effective exercise drill when it comes to basketball training.

Here are a few good effective drills:

Speed Jumps
  1. Begin with the ropes in front of you.
  2. Jump rope as fast as you can constantly.
  3. Repeat the process.

One Leg Jumps
  1. Begin with the ropes in front of you.
  2. Jump rope with with your right foot about 4-5 times.
  3. Switch legs and jump rope with your left foot about 4-5 times.
  4. Repeat the process.

Running Jumps
  1. Begin with the ropes in front of you.
  2. Jump rope while moving up and down the court.
  3. Repeat the process.
